Dot Coffee Shop (Houston, TX) – In addition to being a Houston landmark since 1967, Dot Coffee Shop and has the distinction of being the first offering by wildly successful restaurateurs the Pappas brothers. On the inside, this large retro diner is still decorated in its original style with wood paneling, vinyl booths and vintage light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. On the walls you will find large photos depiction scenes from around the city during the mid-twentieth century. It all comes together to form a backdrop so great that it was featured in the 1994 move Reality Bites. At one time there were actually several Dot locations around Houston but over the years all but this one has closed its doors. The Pappas family simply shifted their focus to more upscale dining endeavors. Thankfully, this location along I-45 remains open to this day and shows no signs of slowing down. You can find them ready to serve you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week whether you’re looking for a pot of coffee or one of their homemade, made-from-scratch favorites.
