Barn Dance (Summerville, GA) – On our journey home, we veered west a bit north of Atlanta toward the town of Scottsboro, AL. It was a little out of the way, but we were curious about a place there called the Unclaimed Baggage Center – a large store where airlines send anything that they can’t reunite with the passengers who lost it. Inside it looks like a huge, cheap department store. We were immediately overcome with the feeling that some weird bad karma would be free with every purchase. We looked around for about 30 minutes but ultimately left empty handed. This picture was my biggest treasure from that leg of the trip. It was painted on the side of a large dance hall (not a barn) near the Georgia/Alabama border. If you look closely, the artist signed his name as “Sign Man” – just fantastic.
