Arrow Head Motel (Columbia, MO) – This sign sits along old Highway 40, one of the first cross-state highways in Missouri and a thriving business route back before the Interstate highway system existed. The motel itself was originally opened in 1938 and is a Columbia landmark… Although it appears to be more in the moving truck rental business than the motel business these days, and unfortunately the sign is no longer lit at night. But I prefer neon signs during the day anyway. When they’re lit up you lose a lot of the beauty that can only been seen in the daylight. This one is no exception.
